I agree with you that yellow is an unlikely color for P. Pumila, but there
it is in Schnell's book pg. 76 " The 1.0 -1.5 cm flower is most often white
but ranges to purple, yellow or pink in Florida" In addition to never seeing
a yellow or pink one I've seen some white and purple flowered ones that were
5 cm across as opposed to the 1.5-2.0 cm mentioned as the maximum size.
In asking about this species, I was wondering if this species had a lot of
genetic variability and thus would be a good subject for developing hybrids.
Can anyone elaborate on this ? Will a yellow Pumila become like a Black
Tulip or Blue Rose????? - Joe Roegner
