Correct spelling

To native English speakers,
I have a spelling question. Does anyone know the CORRECT way to
write "SE Brazil", for example? Would it be "southeast" or "South East"
or "South-East" or some other variation of this. I've seen variations
and am not sure which is right, so that I can include them in the
articles I'm preparing for publication (new CP species which will
hopefully 'hit' the CP world this year!). I have hundreds of SE Brazil,
N Minas Gerais, S Sao Paulo, SW Mato Grosso, NE Goias, N of Diamantina,
800km further S, etc. which I'm not sure what to do with. HELP! Please
answer directly to me, not to bother everyone else with this detail!
