This is an interesting thread but so far no-one seems to have
mentioned de-ionisers. I'm not refering to water softeners which
usually need salt (NaCl) to regenerate, but other ion-exchange
units, many of which are a simple 'use-once-and-throw-away' style
cartridges. Much of the water sold for topping-up car batteries
seems to be processed in this way now.
I have to admit that rain water is not a problem where I live
(Devon, UK) so my interest is largely academic but does anybody have
any information on the suitability of this type of water?
