Hello to all you CP growers,
My name is Martin Henery and I live in Sydney, Australia and have been
listening in to this discussion group for several weeks. Initially the
flood of correspondence was a bit alarming as I cannot help but at least
partially read all e-mails without deleting them and it was taking me some
time to do so. However as things have now quietened down I thought I ought
to test the water.
I have been growing carnivorous plants for many years and was
originally hooked, not by VFT's, but by Drosera filiformis and a
Sarracenia leucophylla which I bought at a nursery closing down sale. My
delight came from almost killing them by putting them in deep shade and
eventually finding out what they actually required and resurrecting them
into beautiful specimens.
The climate here is perfect for most Sarracenias and for many Drosera
which I water with rainwater collected from the regular rainfall (When
there isn't a drought). However I have not been able to spend as much time
caring for them as I would like and many of them are somewhat potbound. In
fact they are so easy to grow here, that next to my cactus collection I
would describe them as easy-care plants. It has been interesting to read
about the major hurdles faced by people trying to grow them in adverse
climates.
Lastly I would like to know if there are any other Australians in this
discussion group who are from the Sydney region as I feel at least some of
my plants need a home where they can get the attention they deserve. I had
thought of setting up a bog garden but I am hampered by a garden full of
trees (which I also adore). Perhaps a swap is the best option.

Martin Henery

P.S I kept this brief in the hope more people might read it.
