My N. mirabilis and S. purpurea are both effective garden snail traps.
The only proof - other than the smell- is the pile of empty shells that
are left in the pitchers. For size, the big Sarrs. and S.minor
occasionaly catch Palmetto bugs, which is our tourist-industry name for
giant ugly cockroaches. They average just under 2" long and sometimes
fly.
