Hello,

My company will debut a site containing information, photos, animations,
videos and more about carnivorous plants at:

http://www.carnivorousplants.com

This will be a free site on the internet that will contain as much
information as possible relating to carnivorous plants. It will debut
in about a month.

Anyone wishing us to post html pages, digitized photos of carnivorous
plants, written information about carnivorous plants, computer
animations of carnivorous plants moving, etc. is invited to submit any
of these materials by email to:

jeffgold@musictown.com

I use a Macintosh and would prefer to receive text as simple text files
and graphics as TIFF, hi-res JPEG, or gif formats.

Animations would best be provided as a series of gif or pict images.

We can usually convert PC formatted files without too much difficulty.

If you already have a carnivorous plant site on the net, we'd be glad to
place a mirror of your site on our server at no charge, or we'd be glad
to provide a link to your site. Anyone interested in helping maintain
our html pages on our Server?

We also have a StreamWorks audio/video encoder and server so we can
serve live audio/video over the internet. If anyone has any nice
non-copywritten videos of carnivorous plants, I would be glad to encode
these for playback on the internet. Mail video tapes (Super VHS or hi-8
preferred, VHS acceptable) to:

Narrated tapes would be preferred since the system will broadcast both
audio and video over the internet. (Download the free client software
at http://www.streamworks.com)

We have a Global Stage Chat Room system we are going to launch in a few
weeks (http://www.prospero.com). Perhaps I can setup a full-time chat
room for CPers if there is enough interest. Anyone interested in
organizing this?

Time Warner is also helping us develop a site called The Lost World.
It is a 3-D graphical chat enviroment based on a fictional adventure
through a Palace on the tepuis of Venezuela. You can check this out by
first downloading the "Palace" software at:

http://www.thepalace.com

To understand how the system works, you probably should try exploring
the main Time Warner Palace site first since there will be a lot of
people there. Our site will be relatively empty until we publicize it
widely about one month from now.

To get to our Lost World Palace site, go to:

http://www.thepalace.com/cgi-bin/directory.pl

and look for THE LOST WORLD in the menu and click on it to enter and
explore. Eventually you can get to it from http://www.lostworld.com but
that is not completely ready yet.

We are trying to provide whatever free services we can to enhance the
availability of information about carnivorous plants.

We are particularly interested in promoting the preservation of wetlands
containing carnivorous plants. We are working with the Nature
Conservancy and other organizations and individuals to provide funding
to acquire and preserve wetlands containing carnivorous plants.

Anyone wanting to take a lead role in helping to guide some of these
efforts, please drop me an email. Thanks!

Best wishes,

Jeff Gold
