This is certainly wrong. The existence of plants with 2n=16 (_P.corsica_)
proves that the base number of at least the series we are talking about
(sect.Pinguicula) is x=8. Other series with x=6 and x=11 do exist within
the genus _Pinguicula_.

No, they are both (_P.mundi_ and _P.l.dertosensis_) hexaploids.

The above two are fertile.
