Well, I have climbed Mt. Washington and I don't recall it having any bogs,
although there is a small pond about 900' below the summit by the Lake in
the Clouds hut. May be boggy, but I wasn't into CPs at the time. Better go
again. It certainly has harsh weather and kills a few people every year who
seem to think they know enough about winter hiking to beat the odds.
But speaking of bogs, there are two in northern New England that should be
on your list: There is the Eshqua Bog near Woodstock, Vermont with six
species of orchids and various CPs of Sarracenia and sundews and the
Philbrick-Crisenti Bog in New London, New Hampshire. Both bogs are
protected areas with boardwalks through them and self-guided tour signage.
I'll report back on Mt. Washington later...
Cheers
Derek
