Here's the scenario: About 4 months ago I sowed some genlisea seed in
long-fibered sphagnum, as advised in one of the old issues of CPN. As
yet nothing has sprouted. I picked up one of the pots and could smell
hydrogen sulfide (or some sulfurous smell). The pots are set in water
about 1cm below the soil level (again, as advised in a past issue of
CPN). I also have some Polypompholyx/Utric. seed in a peat:sand mix in
the water and the surface of the soil is now covered with a thin coating
of slime (bacteria or algae, I guess). The temperature is about 80/75 F
and the humidity is high (~75-80%).
Is there any hope folks? Or have these seeds passed on? In any event,
what are others out there doing for genlisea culture?
Ben.
