flowering Genlisea lobata

Hi all,

I have tried many times to let seeds of various Genlisea species germinate.
I never was very successful until early this year. Out of a relatively
large quantity of G. lobata seeds, just one seedling appeared.
I knew from previous postings that G. lobata is a difficult germinator
and when it germinates it is very hard to get it growing.
I put the little seedling under artificial light in a very humid environment
with a low waterlevel. It started to develop more leaves and by the end
of April it started a flower stalk. Now finally it is flowering and
it is a beautiful sight. The flowerstalk is about 10 cm. high and the
flower is 3 mm large. It is white with a purple striped upper part.
My question now is: Is the plant really an annual and self-pollinating?
In that case I might have to take leaf-cuttings to keep it growing.
I am also considering to take some trap/root cuttings, because I
recall that that is a good propagation method. Could someone please
give me advise on this subject because I would very much regret it when
I loose the species.

greetings
