I"m form Australia and know the People at Dingley
House and garden well, They mainly grow Dionaea and Sarracenia but do have
a few interesting things such as Heliamphora, Nepenthes Lowii, and some
unusual coloured forms of Dionaea. They do have a large collection but ,
"the largest collection in Australia " is stretching the truth a bit, as
there are others with greater variety .
Also with regards to the all RED form of Dionaea
muscipula mentioned a few days ago, this plant was a natural variation that
occurred in a batch of seed that was imported in Australia at least 15
years ago . I had been growing these plants for some years prior to the
application for PVR
( plant variety rights), but as nobody had the money to challenge the
application the Queensland Nursery that made the application can now sue
anyone for selling the plant. This just spoils it for the hobbyist how
grows a few plants in the backyard and wants to sell a few in order to buy
a few more plants for their collection. Dispite this the plant is well
worth having in your collections as it is completely red including the
flower stalk and the flowers are sometimes flushed pink, stunning compared
to the normal form.
