<Coming from a scientific background, I would have
thought that carnivory in plants uniquely exemplifies the incredible
species diversity and ecological relationships between organisms that
have evolved over millions of years of plant evolution rather than
evidence of a creator.
It is for this reason that I see the dramatic loss of biodiversity and
species, most of which are much less
charismatic than vertebrates or carnivorous plants, as such a
condemnation of modern human activities.>

Although I am not certain that I was attempting to bring up our own version
of the "Monkey Trials" to this list, I must admit that the ability of these
plants to develop such intricate mechanisms for catching their prey has,
more than a few times, caused me to marvel at the possibility of an
incredibly creative "Creator" involved in these designs. Wether
accomplished in a few thousand years, or a few billion, or even in the
"blink of an eye", it is of no real matter of importance. What truly
matters is that they exist ... and we (humankind) have been entrusted
(wether by a Creator, or by "natural selection") with their care &
protection to maintain that existence.

You make excellent points, Martin. Thanks for sharing them.

Take Care!
