P. ehlersae and P. esseriana are very distinctive and shouldn't be too easy
to get mixed up.

P. esseriana. Flowers are a pale lilac colour. The flowers are smaller than
P. ehlersae but the best distinguishing factor is that the petals are
reflexed forwards. When viewed from the side this is very obvious. The
leaves on P. esseriana are green edged in white.

P ehlersae. The flowers are larger and are held flat when viewed from the
side. The colour is a much deeper blue/violet. The leaves are also edged in
white but the upper surface is suffused in pink.

To confuse matters more there are a number of forms that have been
discovered with smaller, more delicate flowers with much paler colours
which are much more similar to P. esseriana. The one distinguishing factor
though are the forward pointing petals of P. esseriana.
