In response to your problems with mold and "Green Slime". Try
changing the PH in your setup and see if that helps. Also, I use a
couple of little trick that seems to help control the slime on my
plants, soil and sphagnum moss. The first method I use is to take the
pot that is infected with the algae, tip the pot sideways and rinse
the slime out with clean water. If you are unable to do this then try
my second method. Take a hand full of pine straw cut it up into
10-15mm lengths. Grind up the small pieces into a semi power form. A
spice grinder works well for me. Take this semi power and sprinkle it
all over the slim, plants, soil, and moss. The plants love it, the
soil benefits from it; this has no bad impact on the sphagnum moss,
but the slime hates it. A couple of treatments should normally do the
job or it should allow you to keep the slime under control. If the
slime reappears in other areas, just sprinkle some more pine power on
it. I use this method for all my acid loving CP;s, especially my Sarr
and VFTs seedlings. As soon as the seedlings are about 5mm in size, I
start sprinkling the power pine straw over them. I keep doing this
every month or so with excellent results. I also used this method on
seeds, when first planted to help control dampening off, with
excellent results. Good luck and hope this helps.
