VFT Red Pigmentation

I don't know what mechanism causes VFTs to turn red, but in cacti and
succulents (other than chlorophyll-free sports) the colour develops
in the non-growing season. If VFTs are the same, you would expect
traps to start green then turn redder in the sun as they grow slowly.
When they catch a victim and grow rapidly the new growth should be
green, becoming redder again with age.

Red Dragon owners, is there any discernable colour difference in
traps when ensnaring a victim?
