Catopsis berteroniana is indeed consisered carnivorous. This is
stated in Cheer' 'Carnivorous plants of the World'. Other Catopsi
have not been proved carnivorous, but I believe that there is a case
for many to be tested for possible carnivory. Also, Brochinia Reducta
and hecteroides(sp?) are carnivorous, and again, I think there may be
a possible case for other Brochinia to be (sub-) carnivorous.
A few more things. Len, here are a few of the mistakes in Cheers'
book:
The descriptions of D.cistiflora and D.capillaris have been swapped,
although the photos remain correct.
The photo of Genlisea repens is actually Utricularia quelchii
In his descriptions of his trips to see CP, there are some Horrific
mistakes regarding the temperature, although I can't say that I've
been there, -12C seems a little cold for a venezuelan mountain!!
The top picture of N.villosa on page 105 is in fact N.rajah
The N.maxima pics on pp.98-9 are in fact N.x mixta
Also, in response to a thread about D.binata T-form always producing
two points, except possibly when it just comes out of dormancy, mine
have produce two leaves which have three points.
Happy growing,
Bearo
