I was looking at a flava "cut throat" x purpurea purpurea in my pond and
something really strange occured to me. This plant has the same
colouration pattern as the red tube/green lid flava (atropurpurea form).
The lid is green and veined, the nectar roll is green and the tube part
of the pitcher is dark red. The purp wasn't anything special, it was a
typical Ontario purpurea, green and red veined. Could this be how the
red tube flava form came into existance? Any comments? It was just a
thoughts.
