VFT Problem?

Hi Folks,
I have four VFT's, two are doing well, both producing large traps. The other
two are just starting from parts of the bulbs from the original two. My
problem is the two large VFT's which I keep outside have been catching lots
of what we call here in the south "Grand Daddy Long Leg's", these are long
legged spider looking insects we have all over the place here in Tennessee.
One plant has caught three and the other one has caught two. but after
four-five days the traps that have caught the GDLL's start to turn black
around the edges, one trap that caught one about ten days ago has turned
black! Is this normal? Other than this problem the plants are very healthy
with lots of new growth. Should I quit worrying about it? Or should I keep
the GDLL's away from them? Should I trim back the traps that have turned
black? Thanks in advance.....
