Coir or peat?

Hi all,

Presumably the moss peat which is purchased from garden centres is
collected from natural areas of peat bog - the very habitat where
carnivorous plants are trying to maintain their foot-hold. Surely,
this is a good enough reason to search for an alternative growing
medium for our CP collections. Admittedly, I currently use moss peat
but Coir or rock wool may prove to be just as good since these are
relatively 'inert', non-alkaline, low nutrient media.

Paul.
