To both Anne and Dave, although ammonia is very helpful in neutralising the
acidic 'venom' (Wont for a better term) contained in an insect sting, I think
you'd best note that not all insects are the same.
IE - wasp stings are strongly alkaline, hence caustic and thus unlikely to be
made any better by the addition of ammonia. The 'cure' for wasp stings is
vinegar (I don't advise anything stronger!).
