I'm in Ft. Worth, and my plants (VFTs and most Pitchers) spend the
winter in the refrigerator.
I soak the bulbs in fungicide, then wrap them in live spaghnum and put
them in plastic bags. They spend Oct thru March in the fridge.
Usually, come March, the plants are showing visible signs of
awakening.......(the pitchers have new shoots, vfts are starting to
sprout new leaves).
I've read that the parrot pitchers don't lose there leaves, and are
sometimes submerged underwater for winter.....so find out what type of
pitchers you have before putting them in the fridge for the winter. My
parrots stayed in a cool, low-light, humid aquarium last winter along
with the Drosera binata and capenis. Didn't lose any of them.
(BTW, the only pitchers I've seen for sale in Texas nurseries are Purple
Pitchers...)
