Nepenthes Splendiana

Hi all:

I had a very pleasant surprise this week. I have a
Nepenthes Splendiana that decided to set two of the
largest pitchers I've ever grown in my greenhouse.
This is by far the most wonderful Nepenthes plant
I've grown so far. The pitchers are really cool.
They look like ancient greek Amphora jugs, but elongated
ones, with small pitcher cap openings on the top of
the pitcher. Anyway, a really delightful treat. It even
has a smattering of red color on the green pitcher.
Absolutely neat. Things like this are what keep me going
in this hobby. You always get some cool surprises.
The pitchers are about 6 inches long, which are the
largest I've ever been able to grow. I don't know what
I did to produce these conditions, but I recently closed
the storm door screen window on the greenhouse, and it
seems to have really boosted humidity and comfort levels
for the plants. It also gets much warmer in the greenhouse
during the day, now that the danger of summer frying is
past.

Has anybody tried feeding Nepenthes pitchers with fish
emulsion fertilizer. If so, how were the results? I'm
considering doing this.
