Slime

I sometimes have a problem with what I think is slime mold in
my CP when the humidity is very high. Also, the problem
seems more pronounced whenever I use my occasional mild
dilution of mircaid fertilizer on the plants.

This stuff begins as a clear blob that looks almost like gelatin,
but if left alone, it will spread over the entire surface of the pot.
So far, my treatment has been to take up the affected layer of
soil and give a light spraying of commercial tap water on the
soil surface (the theory here is that the chlorine may help).

Is my diagnosis correct, and is there a more orthodox treatment.
If benomyl is a consideration, I cannot find a source for it. All
other suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
