I am very pleased to be a new subscriber to CP Digest. As an introduction,
I live in the outer Sunset District in San Francisco. My home has a large
(6' x 9') atrium covered with a vented 12' x 12' skylight. I have cool to
intermediate growing conditions with avg. humidity of 65%. My main
interest has been orchids (250+) but 6 months ago I was given a a small
cutting of Napanthes alata and my fungus gnat population has dcreased and
the plant has increased in size. A recent trip to California Carnivores
(great folks) has added the following to my collection: N. rokko; Dionaea
multifida extrema; Sarraconia flava; Droserra capensis and spatulata and
Pinsuicula moranensis. Several of these plants will soon be outside in my
lathe house.
My posting does come with a question. I am landscaping a part of my
backyard (East-West with Ocean winds) and would like to build a small bog.
I am sure the question of what type of plants for outdoor cultivation and
dormancy requirements has been posted many times. If someone can share
with me how to get into back postings of CP Digests (is there an index?), I
can look up this information. If by chance there is a CP subscriber who
lives in an area that has similar growing conditions and can share some of
this information, I would also be most appreciative.
Thank you in advance! Looking forward to expanding my growing
experiences and knowledge base through this wonderful rescource.
