My D. capensis plants sit in about 1 inch (the depth varies somewhat) of rain
water spring through fall. In early November, I place them (along with most
of my other plants) into my unheated garage (40-50 degrees f.) for the
winter. No plant sits in water then; I just keep them damp (water about once
a week or so .. whenever they start to feel dry.)

Hope this helps.
