There has been a few references lately to the possibility that Australian CP
Societies may form a Federation. This subject was discussed between
societies in some considerable detail last year and again early this year.
Unfortunately the South Australian Society (which changed its name to the
Australian Society) wanted to run the show, and the offer was to take
additional subscription fees from members of other societies and give next
to nothing in return. The Victorian Carnivorous Plant Society, being
financially independant, and having both Australian and overseas membership,
could not see any advantage in such an amalgamation ... in fact there were a
number of clear disadvantages. The Carnivorous Plant Society of New South
Wales came to much the same conclusions.
At this time there are no active proposals to form any sort of Federation
between Australian CP societies, and the four such societies in existance
all remain completely independant bodies.
Sorry to all those whose saw some sort of hope for CP conservation coming
from this.
