Creating a bog

Delurking info: I'm an orchid grower near Boston, Massachusetts. Always
on the lookout for another infatuation to obsess me and drain my
pocketbook, I've been thinking of adding a bog to my garden.

There's an excellent resource called Garden in the Woods near here that
grows and propagates New England wild flowers, shrubs, and trees, and
one of their most interesting exhibits is a Pitcher Plant bog---quite
spectacular and a real crowd pleaser.

I have a chronically wet area in my back yard in full sun and full view
of the house that I've been considering excavating a bit, lining with a
semi-permeable liner, and filling with suitable soil for boggy plants.
I'd love to introduce Sarracena species and other CPs that are hardy
here (zone 4/5, although this particular part of the yard is a more
sheltered, warmer mini-clime).

Has anyone tackled a project like this? Seems like most of the postings
on this list relate to indoor or greehhouse culture.

Best regards/Susan
