I can only partially agree with the points made in this post.
It's true that large cities, etc may not impact a great deal directly on
habitat. However, all the resources used by the large number of people in
cities come from somewhere. In addition, farmland is cleared to provide
all the food needed for people in cities, and pollution generated in
cities doesn't just stay there. So, it isn't really true that large
population centers don't need to have much impact on the environment.
