Subject: seed viability

You could control seed viability by using a 1% solution of TTC
(2,3,5-triphenytetrazoliumchloride, CAS 298-96-4, Sigma # T-8877).
Put some seeds in a small quantity (+/- 2 ml) of this solution.
After 24- 48 hours in the dark at 25 deg C. seeds that are viable
will show a red coloration. This however is no indication that they
will actually germinate.
