Hi all,
Just had to throw in my two cents worth on this.
The way I have rooted Nepenthes cuttings was to take about a four
or five inch stem cutting (I didn't find that having the apical meristem
as part of the cutting made any difference), dip it in fungicide/rooting
hormone and place this in a small, 80ml container filled with distilled
water. I would then place the cuttings inside a 2 gallon container with
about 1cm of water in the bottom. Cover it with a sheet of glass and
place it in a sunny spot (but not too hot so as to cook the cuttings).
Anyways, I had great success doing this. I tried some N.alata
cuttings in just straight water (no rooting hormone, etc.) and they failed
miserably. I found the cuttings rooted in only 2 weeks (again, N.alata)
which I think is pretty good.
I think we can all conclude that there is no one correct way to
root Nepenthes cuttings. Just try variation and stick with what works for
you.

Chris Teichreb
