<bigger><x-fontsize>12<x-fontname>arialTo the CP
discussion group,

I wrote to Rick Walker asking for help in answering a question of my students.
He referred me to the discussion group archives, but I could not find what we
were looking for there. Rick also suggested that I post the question to the
discussion group -- so here it is.

I am a middle school science teacher. Several of my students were interesed in
investigating the digestion of insects by plants. They wondered if the enzymes
that digest the insects are similar to animal digestive enzymes. They have
been looking for background information as well as for a "lab" investigation
that they themselves might undertake to better understand this phenomenon.

Our school is called the Mott Hall School (IS223), located in the Washington
Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. It is a public middle school
specializing in advanced studies in science, math and technology. Students
must pass rigorous entrance requirements. The large majority of our students
are first generation immigrants from Latin America. To see an example of
science projects done by 7th graders last year you could check out our school
