I've read that flourescent lights put out up to 50 percent
less light at the end of their lives than at the beginning.
This being the case, it would seem wise to replace the tubes
well before they burn out. Personally, I replace mine when
I see a significant amount of dark discoloration at the end
of the tubes. This typically occurs sometime after 1 year,
depending upon photoperiod.
