Hi Chris,
I discovered CP's in an old book with wrong explanations when I was maybe 7
years old. Then I found a VFT in a supermarket and bought it (bulbs in peat)
and the plant lived for two years (I was about 12).
You can imagine how this plant suffered (bad soil, overwatering...) Later
I've bought 5 plants (Sarrs, a Nep, a VFT and a D. capensis when I was 16 or
17) but when I was on holiday, the plants died because of the bad cares from
neighbours.
Two years ago I decided to begin the collection again and now, I got more than
20 species with more or less success. I'm 25 years old. As 'adult' I'm finally
advised and informed to grow these plants as they need ! I know an 8 years
old boy who grow CPs but his father is in fact the 'gardener'.
How so young people can get good informations via the net or responsible CPers
when they are alone ?
I think it's the reason why we see only 'adults' in the CPers clubs.
For women I don't know (women are a cosmic and universal question, you know
(-; ) I've seen a young girl at the fair, seemed interested.
We can hope that some children will buy and grow CPs, but they're always sold
like toys in exhibitions...
Happy growing
Laurent
