Hi,
The petals can remain on the flowers for more than a week. At
first the pollen is dropped from the anthers and a couple days
after this starts, the stimgas become active. There doesn't seem
to be an exact number of days until it becomes active, so I suggest
you fertilize the stimgas several times (starting a couple days
after the flower opens) until the petals drop.
