Hello list,
I had previously posted about my D. adelae sending out surface growing
roots and after reading some other posts on cultivation I believe I can
account for this odd 'behavior'. Apparently, my medium is too wet for the
plants liking, thus triggering the growth of roots on top of the medium.
In support of this, I noticed that one of the roots had 'dipped' into the
medium, only to 'pop' back out to grow along the surface. I keep the plant
in high humidity so I gather the roots find it comfortable on the surface.
All of these roots grew from the stem above the medium. The roots are
thick, brown and furry turning to white towards the tip. The tip itself is
red. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
