I think someone mentioned an infestation of small black creepy crawlies.
I recently sowed some Drosera occidentalis seed on moist kitchen roll
in a translucent plastic film capsule, sealed apart from a pin-prick
air hole. To my surprise some of the seeds have germinated (they were
two years old and hadn't been stored properly), but they were swarming
with small black mite-like creepy-crawlies. Since the seedlings were
obviously surviving, I believe these creepy crawlies conform to the adage
than relatively fast moving creepy crawlies are carnivores rather than
herbivores.
If anyone fancies trying to identify the creepy crawlies, I could snail a
plastic film capsule with some in.
