Subject: underdeveloped vft traps

Hello everyone,
I have a vft that every so often sends out a leaf without a trap on the
end. Instead of a trap there is only a nub. Just two days ago my vft
sent another nub out leaving two at the same time. This has never
happened before. To the question. What causes these nubs?
