I had ants invade my greenhouse a couple of years ago and they caused no
problems until last year when they began nesting in some of my plants I
had a S. alata that completly filled a 6" pot they bored into the rizome
to build their nest and killed the plant and damaged several others. I
used ant bait to kill them off I still have some ants but not in the
large numbers I had before.
