A possible warning.

Many scanners scan tranparencies by using a backlit illuminator. HP's
scanjet is an example. Some such system's scan the slide at normal
paper-copy resolutions (600x600 dpi). This is great for scanning
overhead transparencies, or large format 4x6" slides, but is horrible
for 35mm work.

Some scanners will say that they have 2400 dpi, but that is often done
by software interpolation.

For slide scanning (say for a WEB page), I'd recommend trying to get a
slide-specific scanner that does at least 2400 dpi *actual* resolution.
