Hi,
I've never tried "lava sand" but might be inclined to stay away from
anything claiming to be desert sand. Off hand, I would think the latter
would have a high Ph since there is not the leaching effect to remove
salts. I was searching for silica sand which is said to be the best for
cp growing and couldn't find it. I was tipped off by a sales clerk who
said to check out a hardware store in town (builder's supply type) and
there, purchased a 100 lb. bag of No# 2 Silica sand for $6.00. This same
stuff they sell in 3 lb. bags at chain stores for two bucks, so go with
the bulk deal. Good luck.
