Subject: Darlingtonia in Grants Pass

Ron, I have checked out the growing conditions of the
Darlingtonia just 25 miles from my home. (In this area,
five miles can be a complete climate change.) Here, in
the Rogue River Valley, we have an annual rainfall of less
than 30" per year. In the Illinois River valley, home
of the darlingtonia, they have three times that much, and
are about 500 or more feet higher in altitude. The darlintonia
that I saw in several locations on a VERY hot August day
had their "feet" in spring-fed bogs of ICE water.

I am just so pleased at being successful with mine, after
having contributed to the demise of others in three tries.
We were up over 100 degrees yesterday and they still look
fresh and happy.

Hey, if it works, don't knock it!!
