First, sorry (grovel, grovel) Doug, I obviously did misread your mail and saw
"live peat" where you recommended "moss peat" - same as me! Still, I never
meant to criticise (nor did you suggest I did). Just pointing out what works
for me same as you did for you.
As to Mr Hummer (the worlds greatest ...), I'm very happy for him. However,
I'd like to know if he can grow giants from any stock or only from the clones
he already has? I would hazard a guess that 16 hours light, high temperature
and high humidity (plus a how many gallons aquarium - does the volume really
matter?) would cause my plants to be bigger, but at what cost. The live
sphagnum top dressing will act as a humidifier but still risks needing a
regular haircut. More to the point, do Cephs really get 16 hours sun in the
wild? If not I assume Mr Hummer's giants are abnormally large - not a
problem though, just interested.
Did I say that Cepalotus will be killed by prolonged sub-zero (C)
temperatures? If not, I meant to.
