          Dear Gilles,

I have seen similar flowers in cultivation with P.vulgaris
and also this year in a pale flowered form of P.leptoceras
(lower petal almost all white) similar to the one you
describe. I have a photograph of the latter and will send
you a scanned copy in the next day or so as time allows.

In my experience flower abnormalities in cultivation are far
more common in Mexican Pings than temperate ones.

          Dear Juerg,

Hans Luhrs (the Dutch Ping fanatic) located such a hybrid
          (P.leptoceras X P.alpina) in Italy in 1996 (I think). I do
not know precise location details however.

          Regards
