Immersing pots in water for a day is an effective way to kill a variety
of pests which attack ordinary houseplants. When I lived in Canberra
Australia, "fungus gnats" (which, in the larval stage devour roots and
whose pupae look like small perlite granules) were a real problem, and
took a lot of insecticide to kill until I tried drowning them. One day
in a bucket of water is sufficient. I would guess it's even safer with
most CP's, and very environmentally freindly.
