Randy,
I'm sure your intentions are good, but you are dealing with a lot of
professional, long time CP growers. People from all background from Botanist to
chemists. These people have been growing CPs for years and I believe some may
even be able to make a dried up twig grow into a tree.
Before introduce new ideas this group, be sure to remember what type of talent
you will be facing. CPers will turn your suggestions every way but lose and if
there even a hint of something wrong, red flags will fly everywhere. Just
remember that you have a tough panel of judges to convince and they will not
hold back on punches.
New ideas and suggestions are always welcomed in this group. I would not be as
knowledgeable as I am today if it wasn't for all this talent. Please remember
that you are sending your advice to a lot of people that may be new to this list
or this hobby. People who are looking for growing tips and answers. They may
fell by adding baking soda and cooking oil to there plants, this could make them
grow any better. Your suggestions may or not always work for everyone else as it
has for you. As you have surely read, these two additives are not recommended
for CP plants at all. If I were you, I would be Very careful on how much baking
soda, oil etc. I added to the soil around my plants.
If you ever need help, advice with any of your plant, just ask the group.
Send out a message on what is seems t be the problem and I guarantee someone
will have the right answer. Randy this is my advice to you and good luck with
your plants.

My idea came from inspiration, plus an earlier coment someone made
on this newsletter, plus my uncle, who has passed away, told me when I was
a little kid.
The salt idea could eventually come about, although I haven't had
a plant die because of baking soda. Maybe time to repot, but then you
would need some more of the above.
Sarr.s, Utric.s, Venuses, Droseras; if it is carnivorous and it
don't cost an arm and a leg I want it and probably all ready have it.
Don't believe that baking soda is all you need, but so far it has
made my plants ,on a whole, look good. On Drosera Banota (T-form) part of
the plant wants to lie down. The Utric.s still look good (Sandersonii and
like) are more dark green.
When before the Lueco. wasn't living to good (I don't know how
else to express it, when it turned orange) When putting the Basic
concoction on it, it lives.
When you talk PH and things like that I'm not that educated.
When my Florida Sundews tips, turn red in the shade, it was time
to put in a little more investagation.
