This is not too strange. I had a hybrid D. filiformis subsp. filiformis
X filiformis subsp. tracyi flower and set seed too. I don't know if it was
the very clone D. 'California Sunset' that you have, but the seed was
viable and germinated into an interesting blend of intermediate seedling
types.
