Well, I'm sure I'm going to open myself right up to my own batch of
responses, but what they hey...

Aside from the benefits or dangers of "planting" at a natural CP site,
even if you think you're planting non-invasive plants, even plants
that come from similar areas inside this country, or whatever the
rationalization, you've also got to consider that there may be seeds of
some *other* species in whatever you're planting. I doubt that U.subulata
or D.capensis were *purposely* planted in this N.CA bog, knowing someone
would surely be aware of the invasive characteristics of these plants -
but, I've seen this myself, those are also two plants that can suddenly
spring up in your collection when you had NO IDEA the seeds were around.

I've had D.capensis show up in pots that had never seen (So I had though)
a D.capensis flower before; likewise with U.subulata. (I've even trid
transplating plants from pots with U.subulata by verrrrry carefully
picking the dirt and grit from around the roots until I thought I had
nothing but the plant - and sure enough, a week later, U.subulata sprung
up right next to it...)

So, without going on the record one way or the other about the
advisability of planting a natural area (I'm not stupid or anything, to
make my opinion known about THAT :) I'm just trying to make the point
that, even if you don't think you're planting anything "dangerous" - you
never know.
