VFTs come in all shapes, sizes and colors. I have plants that produce
traps that are redder then red growing next to plants with hardly any
color to them at all. A lot depends on the plant it self and
certainly, how you grow them.(Conditions such as light, soil etc.) If
your plant has the ability to produce nice red traps, half the battle
is won, but if it does not, will look around for another. You can try
growing your plant under several full spectrum fluorescent tubes.
Place the plant within 3 to 4 inches of these lights for 14 hour a
days. Watering your plant with peat tea helps or using pure peat as
the main growing media also works. A lot also depends on where you
live, your growing condition and if the plant has started or entered
dormancy. Small to medium size vfts are more prone to produce redder
traps then adult plants do, but there is always exceptions to each
rule.
