Subject: Droseraceae slide show in Antwerp, part III

Robert Gibson gave his magnificent Droseraceae slide show last night in
Antwerp. One thing was obvious : this man has visited places and has
seen people I can only dream of.

He had photographs of the CP collections of Stan Lampert and Eric Green
: *wow* !

I won't summarize what he showed, but if you ever have the opportunity
to attend a meeting with him, do so, you won't regret.

A few things stroke my attention :
I didn't know D. regia appears in two forms.
I don't grow any tuberous Drosera's and I had the idea they grew in
semi-arid conditions year round. He showed slides of plants that grew
semi-submerged during winter in a soil that would become bone dry/hard
during summer. Some of them having a long tap root to reach water deep
below the surface during summer. Whenever I decide to grow these, I will
have to replace my shallow thoughts by some real knowledge.

He sure sparked everyone's interest in these plants.

Kind regards
Wim
