Rick,

You say you have some Sarracenia recovering from a bad aphid attack and
are not sure if you should trim the old, deformed pitchers?

My $.02 is that the old pitchers, deformed though they may be, are still
effective at photosynthesis. Leave them there so they can help the plant
survive this rough time. Once the new pitchers are large enough to open
their lids then I would feel ok about trimming back the old growth.

If your deformed pitchers are twisted and bent a lot, they can obstruct
the newly developing pitchers. Such deformed pitchers should be trimmed,
or at least make sure they do not cause trouble.

My question to you is, tell me about the aphid attack and what you did
about them. Greenhouse, terrarium, or outside grower?

Cheers

Barry
